Whether you’re interested in children’s braces or straightening your teeth with Invisalign, check out our blog below to find out more about orthodontics and your oral health!
The Importance of Orthodontic Care
At the surface, orthodontic appliances treat irregularities in the teeth and jaws, including malocclusions (bad bites), misalignment, and improper spacing. Completing treatment, and taking retention seriously, will vastly improve your oral and overall health. Teeth that are in proper alignment are much easier to brush, floss, and maintain than teeth that are crooked. Therefore, it’s no surprise that those with straighter teeth are much more likely to have healthy teeth and gums. For those who have inherited orthodontic issues, or sustained them through poor habits, orthodontics can also cure painful issues, such as chronic jaw or facial pain.
The oral and overall health benefits of treatment are clear, but orthodontics also enhances one’s self-esteem and self-worth. With a beautiful set of teeth, most will feel happier, more confident, and even more social. When you flash your beautiful teeth by smiling more around others, you’ll attract positive attention from those around you, making your days that much better and brighter.
At The Village Orthodontist, we proudly offer a wide variety of braces and Invisalign to provide each of our patients with a straight smile and all of the benefits that come with it.\
October – Also Known as the Month of Halloween!
Coincidentally, National Orthodontic Health Month is also the same month as Halloween! If you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment during this month, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t enjoy all the sugary sweets. Be sure to follow Dr. Moles recommendations, and avoid candy that’s hard and sticky, as they can damage your brackets and wires. You can still enjoy some of your favorite chocolates, such as Hershey’s, Three Musketeers, Reese’s, and Kit Kats. Just be sure to brush and floss your teeth afterwards, so your treatment progresses as planned.
