At The Village Orthodontist, we strive to give our patients the healthy, beautiful smiles that they have always desired. Dr. Jon A. Moles has many years of experience and education, and is always committed to providing the best treatment possible for all his patients. We know that every patient and their needs are different, and that is why we offer a range of different types of braces that we can use to personalize treatment to fit each patient's uniqueness. Here are the various types of braces offered by your local Frederick, Clarksburg, and Urbana orthodontist:
Metal braces are made of high-quality, durable stainless steel. They are the most common type of braces. The brackets, which are bonded to the front of each tooth, are connected by the archwire, which helps guide the teeth into the correct positions. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive than ever before!
Ceramic braces move teeth just as efficiently as metal braces, except the brackets are clear and less noticeable. These are the most popular option for adults due to their cosmetic appeal. Earlier versions of clear braces were made from plastic and would pick up stains from the foods you eat. This is no longer the case with clear braces. They are now made from ceramic which is a strong and non-porous material. Clear braces are a great option for patients seeking an aesthetic option for fixed therapy.
The Invisalign clear aligners system is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. Upon completion of a set, you will be given a new set that will move your teeth even more so toward the desired result. This system is available to adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems. Ask us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign clear aligners system.
SureSmile’s state-of-the-art technology yields enhanced patient comfort, fewer trips to the orthodontic office, and shorter treatment times. Through 3-D imaging and customizing each patient’s archwires, the SureSmile system gives the doctor more control to precisely configure your treatment plan. The Shape Memory alloy wires used in the SureSmile design are more effective than the traditional archwires used in conventional braces, allowing for shorter treatment and less discomfort.
SPEED Braces eliminate the need for traditional “colors” or elastic ligatures to complete the coordination between bracket and wire to straighten the teeth. Instead, SPEED Braces use a component called a 'Spring Clip' to create the force between bracket and wire. The Spring Clip, made of a 'Super-Elastic' metal, applies a light continuous force to gently move teeth to their correct position. This results in less discomfort and fewer appointments. SPEED Braces are smaller than traditional brackets and SPEED's small footprint and all metal design results in less food trapping, so good oral hygiene is easier to maintain throughout your treatment.
